One of my favorite things about my new neighborhood is that I am ridiculously close to the San Francisco Flower Mart. I can wake up, walk a few blocks down the road & buy a ton of flowers at a super low cost. I spent my day exploring and ended up finding some beautiful flowers at a great price.
Going to the flower mart really allows me to get creative and come up with ideas for new arrangements. I made a bunch of arrangements with white roses, peonies and some greenery for my blog launch party. When I hosted Christmas at my house, I went for red roses, white roses and hypericum. This time I wanted to get some bright ranunculus with some white roses & mini green hydrangeas. I guess I have a thing lately for white roses!
The trick to the flower Mart is bringing cash. You have to be able to barter with vendors or be patient enough to do some hunting for lower prices. For example, yesterday there was a stand that was selling 24 white roses for $60. Instead of buying the first vendor, I kept looking. I ended up buying 24 white roses and 2 bundles of mini green hydrangeas for $15. What a steal! Did I mention that I ended up making 7 arrangements with these flowers? It is definitely way cheaper to hit up a flower mart than to go out and buy pre-made arrangements. I also find it super therapeutic to make some arrangements while I'm at home playing music in my kitchen.
