The Bay Area never ceases to amaze me with all of it's beauty. I have lived here most of my life & I seem to be able to discover stunning places I've never been to all the time. I just went to The Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek & I was WOWED by the beauty of all the desert plants.
If you know me, you know I am obsessed with cacti and succulents. Ruth Bancroft Gardens is the place to go if you are in the Eastbay. I swear I could easily spend a whole day here or at Flora Grubb in the city (if you haven't seen it, check out my post on Flora Grubb here). The only place I've seen cacti this size would have to be Palm Springs- it's crazy how huge these things grow. If you head here, make sure you wander all over & take tons of pics.
There is a super cool greenhouse that you must see, you just have to ask for access to it. It's reminds me so much of the kids book The Secret Garden. These plants that are growing have a mind of their own and crawl up the walls to make for such a cool and creepy look.
Next time you're hanging out in the Eastbay be sure to grab a book, some coffee and head over to this awesome spot.
